New fee amounts in force at the EPO
23 March 2009The new fee structure provided for by the European Patent Office (EPO) will apply to European patent applications, including European divisional applications and new applications under Article 61(1)(b) EPC, which will be filed on or after 1 April 2009, and to international applications entering the regional phase on or after that date.
The new fee amounts are the following:
- CLAIMS FEE
- for each claim from the 16th to the 50th: EUR 200
- for the 51st and each subsequent claim: EUR 500
- ADDITIONAL FEE FOR APPLICATIONS WITH PAGES IN EXCESS OF THIRTY-FIVE
- for the 36th page and each subsequent page: EUR 12
- DESIGNATION FEE
Only one designation fee of EUR 500 is provided to cover the designation of all contracting States. - FEE FOR GRANT
At the moment of grant, only a fee for grant and publication of EUR 790 is provided. The fee for printing currently due for patent applications with more than 35 pages is abolished and substituted for the additional fee of EUR 12 due at the moment of filing (see point 2 mentioned above).
